Invest in the Revival of Diablo Valley Recreation Association

The situation:

Diablo Valley Recreation Association (DVRA) has been a vital part of the neighborhood fabric since the 1950s — a community-owned pool created by neighbors, for neighbors. For decades, it’s been a welcoming, relaxed place where kids learned to swim, families and friends gathered, and summer days stretched from early morning laps to evening cannonballs.

Even if you’ve never been a member, you may have passed by, heard kids playing and splashing, or attended a birthday party or barbecue here. DVRA has always been more than just a pool — it’s been a welcoming neighborhood spot where everyone feels at ease. You didn’t need a reservation or a reason to show up. Kids shared floaties and pool noodles with strangers who quickly became friends. Parents chatted in shady corners. Laughter echoed off the water. Whether you stayed for ten minutes or the whole day, it was the kind of place where everyone belonged.

But after years of wear and rising costs, DVRA is at risk of permanent closure. The good news? There’s a clear, realistic path to bring it back and a revitalized plan for long-term sustainability.

Here’s where you come in:

To move forward, we’re seeking a group of community-minded individuals willing to make personal loan commitments to fund critical renovations. These are structured investments, offering 5% or higher interest depending on the loan timeline. Several DVRA members have already committed to making loans, but more funds are needed to move forward. We invite you to speak with a DVRA board member to learn more — we’re happy to share our business plan and financials.

No funds will be collected unless and until we reach the threshold needed to proceed with the renovation. Our campaign to raise funds runs through August 31, 2025.
